Using courage to drive positive change!
“Psychotherapy can be one of the greatest and most rewarding adventures, it can bring with it the deepest feelings of personal worth, of purpose and richness in living.” – Eda Leshan
As a therapist who has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, I believe that it takes courage for a person (regardless of their age) to engage in the therapeutic process because it requires a level of vulnerability to be able to share one’s thoughts, feelings, and struggles with another person. Given this view of the therapeutic process, I regard my clients with the utmost respect, compassion, and empathy. I am here to help people with uncovering and embracing their strengths, empowering them to achieve their goals, providing them with skills to manage their emotions and behaviors, improving their interpersonal relationships, managing daily stressors, healing from past trauma, gaining more insight and self-awareness, and improving their overall sense of well-being.
I particularly enjoy providing individual and family therapy to children ages 6-18. I have experience working in mental health outpatient treatment facilities and schools, as well as providing in-home therapy to children and families.
My clinical areas of expertise include: depression, anxiety, bullying, low self-esteem, trauma, ADHD, oppositional behaviors, anger management issues, and cultural identity. I tailor my therapeutic approach to each client’s individual needs and utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), art therapy, play therapy, interpersonal process therapy, psychodynamic theory, strengths-based theory, and family systems theory.
My educational background includes a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Rutgers University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (Psychology Minor) from Georgetown University. I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).In my free time I enjoy biking, writing poetry, painting, reading, attending local art/music events, and traveling
