“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness” Desmond Tutu

My passion for creating hope, shines through in each interaction I have with the clients I work with. I have always gravitated towards helping people who no one else would help. My approach of being present in the moment, building on strengths and empowering people has been successful in helping people overcome barriers and challenges. I believe no problem is too big to overcome with the right support in place. By being genuine I seek to create an environment where people can be authentic, so the person can be their true self. Adults and children with whom I worked with, will speak to my ability to have empathy for others. I never had to be taught how to walk in another’s shoes, the skill comes from within me.

For the past 18 years, I have worked with individuals with special needs, Autism Spectrum, behavioral/emotional challenges, social skills troubles, severe and persistent mental illness, victims of sexual assault, victims of domestic violence and individual who have mental health concerns surrounding LGBTQ, transgender process, culture, and racism. My main area of focus is children and adolescents, although I do work with adults who have family members, who face the challenges mentioned previously. A passion of mine is to work with families and help guide them towards cohesiveness. Whether it is a mother-daughter, siblings, or entire family, I can help either bring the family unit back together or enhance on the unit intact. Finally, my work with caregivers who are facing caregiver guilt and siblings of child/adult with special needs has had a meaningful impact. I have worked in day programs, residential, supportive housing, in home, groups, homeless programs, and outpatient.

My techniques are play, sand, and art therapy with children, cognitive behavioral therapy, family-focused therapy, interpersonal therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and crisis intervention model. Theories that guide my work are systems theory, social learning theory, psychosocial theory, attachment theory and self-psychology theory.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of New Jersey. I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of Maryland and my master’s degree in social work from Fordham University. I have been trained in Undoing Racism, Suicide Prevention, and Trauma Informed Therapy. I am a certified Crisis Intervention Trainer for the DD population. I was a speaker at a at the ‘We Can Work Conference’ in New York for individuals with mental health concerns finding employment.

In my free time, I enjoy dancing, going to the beach with my family, snorkeling with my husband, watching my son play soccer, doing arts and crafts with my daughter and traveling.
