Turning strengths into tools!
My goal is to offer guidance, instill hope, and foster empowerment, to enable clients to regain control of the areas of their lives, that with time, they may have lost control over. People seek therapy for a variety of different reasons, and there is no issue too complex or minor to work on! I truly believe that people are the experts of their own lives, and sometimes just need assistance discovering the strengths and tools they already possess to manage life’s challenges. I believe therapy is a process in which a therapist and client must work collaboratively towards desired goals and that everyone has the ability to create the relationships and life they desire.
I have always been passionate to work with clients towards resolving issues and achieving their goals. I am eclectic in my approach, utilizing a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and psycho-education. Every person and every story is unique and I tailor my techniques to each individual client, utilizing a nonjudgmental / humanistic approach when working with clients to facilitate a safe therapeutic space and build positive rapport.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of New Jersey. I received my Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Rutgers University and my Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling, with a certificate in Couples & Family Counseling from Monmouth University. I am also a National Certified Counselor.
Having been employed in the mental health field for almost 10 years in a variety of different settings (i.e. residential, outpatient, case management, and crisis intervention), I work diligently to blend my experience with my passion to help my clients achieve success. I have worked with adolescents and adults to address issues of depression, anxiety, stress, family conflict and relationship issues, life transitions, self-esteem, self-harm, and emotion regulation.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing with my dog, reading, and singing.
